AvB - Pattern - Place

Race 1 Sedgefield 12:00 Novices/Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 17f

226 Piecederesistance
Fairly useful on the Flat, including winning a Pontefract handicap in June. Improved effort over hurdles when third of 8 in 2m novice at Newcastle 22 days ago. That sets a clear standard here.
11-4Miss Becky SmithMicky Hammondlocked1.38/11.25/19
343 Glory Bridge
Pulled up in sole Irish point but overcame inexperience to make a successful debut under Rules in a bumper here in March. Faded tamely to finish last of 6 on his Ayr hurdle debut/reappearance but he retains potential based on that bumper win.
11-4Theo GillardDonald McCainlocked4/15/125
324 Hermes Le Gris
Placed on 2 of his 3 starts in bumpers and encouraging start over hurdles when finding just one too strong in a 7-runner Warwick maiden (2m, good) in May. Disappointing when remote fifth at Plumpton 6 months later but it's still early days.
11-4Henry BrookeWarren Greatrexlocked6/16.5/18
2528 Sawpit Samantha
Faded to finish sixth of 9 in a Musselburgh bumper on her debut in March but the fact she went off 6-4 suggests better was expected. Interesting to see if her supporters' return now hurdling on return.
10-11Robert DunneSamuel Drinkwaterlocked6.5/140/1515
131 Bertie's Wish
Fair Flat winner. Not knocked about when fifth on Huntingdon hurdle debut 13 days and he's open to improvement in this sphere.
11-4Sean QuinlanJennie Candlishlocked8/13.33/158
695 Indian Sunbird
Fair form at best when placed twice in bumpers. Hurdle debut.
11-4Jamie HamiltonSara Enderlocked10/114/140
222 Dandy Maestro
Fairly useful 1m Flat winner for this yard but does stay 1¼m. Inauspicious start over hurdles when remote seventh at Market Rasen 22 days ago but he could improve with that experience behind him.
11-4Ben BromleyRichard Spencerlocked22/111/150
87 Something Golden
Big prices and well held on his completed start in novice hurdles at Kelso last week.
11-4Conor O'FarrellIain Jardinelocked100/1100/10

Race 2 Sedgefield 12:30 Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 20f

221 Betty Baloo
Dual bumper winner who came good over hurdles in a 2m Catterick novice in March. Very good second of 10 in Market Rasen handicap (20.5f, good to soft) on reappearance 3 weeks ago. Respected.
12-0Jamie HamiltonTim Easterbylocked3.5/12.5/129
296 Regal Renaissance
Caught the eye when beaten just over 10 lengths at Ludlow (2m) on second run over hurdles 4 weeks ago and appeals as a likely improver now handicapping back up in trip.
11-0Richard PatrickHenry Dalylocked4/18/1100
245 East End Girl
Fairly useful on Flat, adding to tally on AW in August. Remote fourth on hurdle debut but left that well behind when winning a 2m Huntingdon mares' novice hurdle 24 days ago. Up in trip for handicap debut in this sphere.
11-7Sean QuinlanLucy Wadhamlocked4/112/1200
322 Will Victory
Fairly useful hurdles winner in France. Failed to score for Charlie Mann and Dr Richard Newland in Britain and also never involved when fifth of 6 in a Hereford handicap hurdle on her reappearance for a new stable 32 days ago. Something to prove.
12-0Ben BromleyHarry Frylocked5/15.5/110
2253 Minelladestination
Made a winning start to her career in a 2m Wetherby novice hurdle in February. Didn't advance her form when placed in 3 novice hurdles in the spring but she does return as an unexposed sort from a good yard.
11-13Theo GillardDonald McCainlocked6/17.5/125
147 Spot On Soph
Won a pair of 19f Catterick handicap chases last winter. Added to her good record over fences at that track when runner-up 13 days ago. Might have needed the run over hurdles on first 2 outings this term and she's of some interest off her lower mark in this sphere.
10-3Jonathan EnglandSam Englandlocked6.5/12/169
204 The Player Queen
Point/bumper winner who built on earlier promise when doubling hurdles tally in 5-runner novice at Musselburgh in February. Stable won this race last year but she does need to leave behind a disappointing reappearance run at Wetherby 3 weeks ago.
11-12Craig NicholRose Dobbinlocked18/111/139
There are 7 runners in this race.

Race 3 Sedgefield 13:00 Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 17f

3065 Monjules
Won C&D juvenile for John Norton last November. Struggled for that yard subsequently but he's been the subject of a potentially very significant trainer change ahead of this reappearance. Major player, even more so if the betting vibes are strong.
11-7Lorcan MurtaghHarry Frylocked2.25/12/111
1573 Patient Dream
Useful on the Flat. Little better than fair form over hurdles to date but has switched to the Donald McCain yard ahead of this first outing for nearly 5 months. Interesting contender, particularly if backed.
11-9Peter KavanaghDonald McCainlocked3/13/10
91 Sambezi
Placed twice over hurdles in the spring but his last couple of efforts have been a bit disappointing, finishing a well-held fifth at Hereford (2½m) back from a break only 9 days ago. Drop back in trip needs to help.
12-0Mr Jack AndrewsOliver Signylocked11/110/19
3648 Hildenley
Dual Flat winner for this yard, including in September (creditable third latest). Well beaten in maiden/novice hurdles last season but he can be expected to make more of an impact now handicapping at a modest level.
11-0Nathan MoscropTim Easterbylocked11/118/164
1416 Buto
Modest form at best over hurdles in Ireland for John McConnell. Off for 141 days ahead of this first run for a new stable. Watching brief is advised.
11-2Joshua ThompsonMicky Hammondlocked12/150/1317
292 Astroman
Fair winner on the Flat who has matched that form over hurdles. Fourth in a Market Rasen handicap at the start of July but not at his best in 3 outings since (last 2 for this new yard). Bounce back needed.
11-9Jamie HamiltonMark Walfordlocked20/16/170
417 Haveyougotmymoney
Hit the frame both outings in points and made a winning start over hurdles at Uttoxeter (2m, good to soft) in June. Not disgraced when fifth of 9 in handicap at Kelso 41 days ago, but yet to reproduce the form of his Rules debut.
11-2Callum BewleyPaul Robsonlocked20/14/180
6610 Madeeh
Fairly useful handicapper on the Flat at his best but hurdling efforts have generally been uninspiring, finishing down the field over C&D in September. Also well held on AW Flat last month.
10-2Conor O'FarrellPhilip Kirbylocked33/118/145
There are 8 runners in this race.

Race 4 Sedgefield 13:35 Handicap Chase (Class 5) 27f

154 Elleon
Bumper winner. Maiden over hurdles for Warren Greatrex but showed promise sent chasing when third of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (23.4f, soft) on return/yard debut 2 weeks ago. Potentially on a very lenient mark if able to build on that.
10-12Jonathan EnglandSam Englandlocked2.25/11/156
153 Skyhill
Campaigned largely over fences in recent years, winning at Carlisle (24.5f) in February. Back to form when third at Newcastle 2 weeks ago and on a fair mark if building on that.
11-2Jamie HamiltonAlison Hamiltonlocked5.5/15/19
412 Morningside
Upped his game over fences in 2022, runner-up at Southwell and Kelso early this year. Looked rusty after 5 months off at Kelso and should fare better here.
11-7Lorcan MurtaghSandy Forsterlocked5.5/15/19
2661 Roccowithlove
Newbury hurdles winner in February 2020. Failed to complete all 3 starts over fences last season and since sold from Warren Greatrex £3,500 in May.
12-0Sam ColtherdJoanne Fosterlocked7/120/1186
105 To The Limit
Winner at Kelso in January but more recent efforts leave a lot to be desired, including after return from summer break last 2 starts.
10-9Sean QuinlanStuart Coltherdlocked12/16/150
266 Son Of Oz
No solid form. Change of headgear.
10-5Sean HoulihanRobert Stephenslocked33/116/152
448 Chain Smoker
Fontwell win for Gary Moore in January 2020 is very much a standout on his record. Showed nothing after 16 months off in handicap hurdle at Worcester 44 days ago.

Race 5 Sedgefield 14:10 Novices/Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f

143 Jet Smart
£80,000 purchase after finishing second in an Irish point in March. Showed plenty when fifth in an Ascot maiden (19.2f) on hurdles bow 2 weeks ago and well worth considering with prospect of more to come now eased in class.
11-0Philip ArmsonDavid Pipelocked0.83/11.2/145
221 Attention All
Placed in a course bumper on Rules bow in May and despite being easy to back, made it first time lucky in this sphere in a Newcastle maiden (20.3f) 3 weeks ago. Open to improvement and he's respected under a penalty.
11-7Nathan MoscropRebecca Menzieslocked2.25/13.33/148
242 Decorated
Modest bumper winner who ran best race to date over hurdles (fair form) when 10 lengths second in 16-runner Hereford novice (2m) last month. Not out of things for all a switch to handicaps could be more his bag.
11-0Henry BrookeOliver Signylocked4/11.75/156
144 Shir I Dont Know
Shirocco gelding. Modest form in a couple of bumpers and he never figured on hurdles bow in a Catterick novice (19.3f) 2 weeks ago, merely passing beaten horses. Likely type for low-grade handicaps in due course.
11-0Conor O'FarrellIain Jardinelocked40/133/118
285 Nairobi Girl
Won point bumper in February but hasn't made any impact under Rules to date, eighth of 10 in novice hurdle at Hexham (16.2f, soft) on hurdles bow 28 days ago. Can only be watched.

Race 6 Sedgefield 14:45 Handicap Chase (Class 4) 21f

61 Baron De Midleton
Bounced back with blinkers refitted to capitalise on a reduced mark in ready fashion at Newcastle 6 days ago. That race rather fell apart, but he still boasts obvious claims under a penalty.
12-27exBen BromleyBrian Ellisonlocked1.75/11/143
154 Hidden Commander
Made a very good start over fences for this yard in the spring, winning 3 times. Back on the upgrade when narrow winner at Newcastle last month and shaped as if still in form there last time. Definite player.
11-10Sam ColtherdStuart Coltherdlocked3/13.2/17
223 Road Warrior
Consistent sort who signed off for last term with good second of 6 in handicap chase at Sedgefield (19f) in April but hasn't fired on either outing this term.
11-13Peter ColemanRebecca Menzieslocked4/16/150
1877 Ashjan
Won 3 times in the spring this year but found good run of form coming to a halt when last seen at Kelso 6 months ago. Might need this reappearance, too.
10-11Lorcan MurtaghSandy Forsterlocked8/118/1125
222 Jelski
Won over hurdles at Haydock (3m) in March and Cartmel (2¾m) in June. Solid start to his chase career when second in a Cartmel novice in August but not in the same form when a well-held third in 3m Hexham handicap on completed start since.
12-0Charlotte JonesJames Moffattlocked10/112/120
225 Mister Bells
Fair chase winner in Ireland for Paul Nolan. Below form there this summer but more encouragement when fourth to Hiddne Commander at Newcastle 3 weeks ago. Could build on that.
11-6Emma Smith-ChastonMicky Hammondlocked12/18.5/129
206 Contre Ordre
Fairly useful chaser in France who didn't offer a great deal when last over hurdles at Wetherby on stable debut recently. Has a bit to prove on the back of that.

142 Boomslang
Schiaparelli gelding who went with some encouragement when third in a Catterick bumper (15.7f, good to soft) a fortnight ago, keeping on late having been outpaced early in straight. Could put that experience to good use today.
11-0Nathan MoscropRebecca Menzieslocked2.5/15.5/1120

3403 Derwent Dealer
Accomplished very little when well held in a Wetherby bumper (16f, heavy) on debut 11 months ago. Needs to leave that effort well behind.
11-0Henry BrookeDanny Brookelocked20/19/155
141 Ben Ten
Failed to beat a rival on bumper debut at Uttoxeter 2 years ago and similar comments applied starting out for a new yard (hooded) at Catterick a fortnight ago. Headgear quickly discarded.
